We’re delighted to share that JDTV has won the Best Diversity & Inclusion Award at the inaugural AI Movie Awards (AIMA), held on April 24–25, 2026, at the Meliá Beach Calvià in Magaluf, Mallorca. The award recognises “The Daughter Who Saved de Gaulle,” our nominated short film, for the way it uses AI-driven storytelling to amplify underrepresented voices and bring lesser-known histories to a wider audience.
AIMA brought together filmmakers, technologists, and industry leaders from across the world to celebrate AI-driven cinema and visual storytelling, with an expert jury that included Hollywood producer Tommy Harper (Top Gun: Maverick, Star Wars) and Palma Pictures CEO Mike Day. Over two days, the festival featured short film screenings, workshops, hands-on tutorials, and a live awards ceremony spanning categories from Best AI Short to Best Planet Consciousness.

More Than a Nomination: A Full Partnership
JDTV’s presence at AIMA went well beyond competing for an award. We joined the festival as a main sponsor, and our involvement spanned several fronts:
- A dedicated 30-minute stage session, where we screened selected JDTV productions and shared our vision for AI-assisted storytelling with the festival audience.
- The James Drake Award for Best Documentary, which we presented to honour outstanding documentary work created with AI tools.
- Our “Top 3 Cultural Pieces”, a curated selection of standout cultural storytelling from among the AIMA finalists, which we’re highlighting across our channels.
- The Hackathon Challenge, co-organised and judged by JDTV, focused on themes like AI for science communication, with the winning project set to be featured on our platforms.

Why This Award Matters
The Best Diversity & Inclusion category honours films that celebrate the richness of human variety in culture, identity, and perspective, recognising creators who use artificial intelligence to challenge bias and build bridges between communities. Winning it for “The Daughter Who Saved de Gaulle” reflects something we care deeply about at JDTV: using emerging technology not just to tell striking stories, but to tell stories that might otherwise go untold.
Mallorca also gave us the chance to connect with emerging creative talent and forward-thinking collaborators, conversations we expect will shape new partnerships and projects in the months ahead.
What’s Next
Building on the success of the Mallorca edition, AIMA is partnering with James Drake Media for its next event, AIMA London, taking place November 7–8, 2026 at IET London. We’re looking forward to continuing this collaboration and to seeing where the next chapter of AI-driven cinema takes us.
Stay tuned for more from JDTV as we keep exploring the intersection of storytelling, culture, and artificial intelligence.
